Ten years ago, federal agent Samantha Moon was the perfect wife and mother, a typical soccer mom with a minivan and suburban home. Then the unthinkable happens, an attack that changes her life forever. And forever is a very long time for a vampire.

There's something in the water. Something evil.... Now in Moon Shadow (Vampire for Hire, Book 11), private investigator Samantha Moon is hired to track down a purported lake monster that could wreak havoc on a tourism business.

When Sam delves into the creature sightings that have spooked Lake Elsinore residents, she crosses paths with the case of two missing boys. The police are stumped, and Sam and her werewolf lawyer boyfriend, Kingsley, team up to investigate both cases. And what lies beneath the surface of the lake is just the beginning for the paranormal abomination that has taken over Lake Elsinore. This is no legendary monster. Its diabolical evil spans centuries and even worlds - and it sets its sights on Sam's loved ones....

As Sam and Kingsley pursue the truth, time is running out for the missing boys - and for someone she loves. Will Samantha Moon have to choose between them?

Moon Shadow (Audible Audio Edition) JR Rain Dina Pearlman Audible Studios Books

I love this series but felt like this one spent too much time rehashing and explaining past characters and more. Your fans know her story. We know Fangs story. We do not need a history lesson in every book. Very little time was spent on the actual mystery of the missing boys. Please Mr. Rain. Do not fall into that trap of recycling past books. Samantha deserves better and so do her fans.

Moon Shadow (Audible Audio Edition) JR Rain Dina Pearlman Audible Studios Books Reviews

This is the first book I ordered after I got my . My grandchildren got it for me for Christmas several years ago since I read so much. I was working as an Armed Security Guard in a relatively bad part of town . After 7 pm it was just me and the dark and I had to go out at 8 pm and lock a parking lot. Everyone was gone by 7 and I was watching cameras so got the out and started to read...LOL I didn't read long and put that book away. Co workers laughed at me when I told them the next day and said MOON should have been my first clue on the book. When I started on it again it was daylight..LOL Since then I've read all the books, even at night,LOL Very good books and I wish there were more.
Let me begin by stating Samantha Moon is one of my all time favorite characters. How can you not love a Judge Judy watching, private detective, soccer mom, who just happens to be a kick ass vampire, who can also turn into a giant bat/dragon? This is a great new addition to her adventures. Thank you JR Rain for creating Samantha and keeping her adventures exciting, humorous, and sometimes heart wrenching. If you have not read this series, start with the first book, you will love them. If you are a fan, this is a great addition to the series.
I was lucky enough to receive an advance copy of Moon Shadow, a mixed blessing. The timing dictated I had about 5 days to read it and give my thoughts... I like to savor the words, not speed read! However, I just finished and J.R. Rain has done it again. I always read Mr. Rain's Sam Moon series and want 'more'. They almost all seem so short! I am not totally sure longer is better, but by the end I am well satisfied, and loved the strange world woven into a real place! I Googled Lake Elsinore and Aimee's Castle, took a virtual tour on YouTube, which enriched Mr. Rain's words. Loved all the familiar characters and the intertwined stories, too. Thank you for another wild ride!
Firstly, I've enjoyed this series. There is humor mixed with horror and reality mixed with fantasy throughout the series. Book 11 is no exception. I would consider it a fast read except it's too wordy. There are too many references to back stories and descriptions of Sam's family and friends. A little refresher of previous stories is great but too much takes away from the continuity of the story, at least for me. Some of the chapters felt as if the were written previously and then fit into the book making it seem somewhat disjointed. Instead of exhilarated after finishing an exciting book, I'm just tired of hearing descriptions of Kingsley. This book definitely moves the story of Sam into new revelations about her and her family. It's a good story with an exciting case to solve. I recommend it to anyone who has been following Samantha Moon.
Have you ever wondered what life would like if you, living as a totally ordinary working wife and mother of two children, and were suddenly turned into a vampire? In the Samantha Moon series, authored my J. R. Rain, the story of such a woman dramatically unfolds.
In the newest book in this series, #11 entitled Moon Shadow, Samantha, or Sam, rockets through many intertwined adventures. I've got to say, I was riveted. From the shores of desert enclosed Lake Elsinore, Sam declares, "There be monsters here." And there were monsters beyond imagination. One of Sam's own children is also the subject a prophetic death dream. How the two plots merge and resolve is brilliant! This novel is a must read!
I was so happy to finally see a full size book again in the Samantha Moon series. I have been reading this series since book one, and really enjoy them, but it seems like the last several books have been more short stories, or novellas, than actual books. This story was interesting, and kept my attention throughout, with lots of good characters involved and some really creepy parts too, that made it a fun read. And learning more about Franklin in this story was one of my favorite things, I've always thought he was a pretty cool character! Also, I can't wait to find out more about the training school for specially gifted kids in future books, I can only imagine that Samantha's son will end up being their top student one day soon. I have a feeling he's going to be a real superhero when he grows up , how cool would it be to see them working cases together one day?
I received an ARC copy of this book. It is by far the best Samantha Moon book yet, and they are all awesome! There is a great story line, with lots of sub plots as well, that all time in so nicely . We learn of Franklin's story. We see Allison dealing with some "witchy" issues. We see Sam as a Mom, dealing with a recurring vision of her daughter being harmed. We even get to see Sam learn something new about herself! There is even mention of Sam's time travel trip to New Orleans, from the Case Files book, Moon Bayou. I love the intertwining story lines from the different books. Moon Shadow is full of action, mystery, and Sam being the superwoman she is! There is so much detail. Definitely worth the wait! I can't wait to see what happens next, with Kingsley and the Lichtenstein monsters.....with Luke going to the Light Warriors Academy.....with Anthony, who carries "the Mark"......So many storylines waiting to be told! JR Rain has once again wowed me with great story telling!
